With the 117th US Open underway in Wisconsin, and the Fourth of July just around the corner, it’s a good day to think about properly dressing patriotically on the golf course. For me, there’s a right way, a wrong way, and a better way.
This is an easy classic. Any combination of red, white, and blue with your shorts, shirts, and belt is the easiest way to show your patriotic pride. I’m big on the white belt, so I’ve got navy blue Puma shorts, red Puma shirt and a white belt. You can tie things up nicely with a white hat or visor and a white shoes.
If you really want to step your game up, adidas recently dropped a red, white, and blue version of their new crossknit boost shoes. They look great.
I recently came into possession of a stars and stripes visor that’s a little loud but is a nice touch for my US Open Sunday attire at the club.
There are so many ways to go wrong when you’re putting together a red, white, and blue outfit. There are crazy patterned shorts and shirts with way too much going on. There’s also the problem of trying to match different shades of red and blue in your tops and bottoms.
If you insist on taking things a step too far, there are several clothing companies that can help you out. LoudMouth Golf and Hagen Golfwear both offer bold options. And, TruLinks has several shoe options that would go right along with them.
Puma Golf announced in May that they were teaming up with Volition America to introduce red, white, and blue collection that honors those who have given their life for our country. With options for men and women, it’s a collection of clothing that you’ll be proud to wear.
My choice was blue camo shirt with a white shorts and a red belt. I didn’t really need a new pair of shoes, but I scooped up a pair of the Puma IGNITE DISC extremes in the red, white, and blue colorway. It’s a heck of an outfit.

I feel great wearing gear like this knowing that a portion of the proceeds from the Volition Collection goes to the Folds of Honor Foundation. Keep that in mind when you’re trying to find the right outfit for your upcoming events on the Fourth of July this year.
