| Coeur d'Alene Resort offers Ultimate Golf Vacation
Upgraded
course, upscale services make this lakeside luxury resort a golfer's
dream. At the Coeur d'Alene Resort in Idaho, they spell Guest with a
capital G.
It's just how they do things at this 18-story lakeside golf
destination. When owner Duane Hagadone founded the Resort in 1986, he
insisted on this philosophy from the start.
The result? An unforgettable golf experience
of personal service and attention to detail set in the cool, clear
mountain air of Idaho at the edge of one of the prettiest lakes in
America.
Tall pine trees, mountains and the deep blue
waters of Lake Coeur d'Alene, border the Resort Golf Course. To this
marvelous setting, add the elegant service touches for which The Resort
is famous the wooden boat ride to the course, amazing caddies and
even a complimentary massage before tee time - and you have a golf
vacation which approaches heaven.
Throw in a lakeside spa, a thriving downtown
setting with fine dining and shopping, an action-packed waterfront, and
a region known as the outdoor playground of the Pacific Northwest, and
you have a visit that will be remembered fondly by the family too.
These are all reasons why The Coeur d'Alene
Resort has been named the Number One place to stay for both golfing and
skiing in the Zagat Survey's "Top U.S. Hotels, Resorts and Spas" and
honored by Golf Odyssey as one of "The World's Top Twenty Golf
Destinations." Conde Nast Traveler agrees, naming The Resort one of the
"Top 25 Golf Courses in the World."
When golf Guests arrive at The Resort, they
are greeted at the front door and ushered to their luxurious
award-winning guestroom. Their clubs are whisked away, to reappear only
when ready for play. Golfers are treated to a nightly wine reception
with handpicked selections from the award-winning collection in The
Resort's wine cellar. In nearby Beverly's Restaurant overlooking Lake
Coeur d'Alene, diners will be treated to a stunning $1.3 million
renovation for 2005.
"Our philosophy is to absolutely roll out
the red carpet for our Guests," says Jerry Jaeger, President and
Co-Owner of Hagadone Hospitality.
The ride from the Guest's room to the course
itself is simply one of the most unique, and most beautiful, to be
found anywhere in North American golf destinations.
Golfers are treated to an elegant ride
across Lake Coeur d'Alene in one of two beautifully handcrafted
mahogany boats, the Eagle One and Eagle Two. Built by local craftsman
Syd Young, a tradition handed down from his father; these wooden
beauties have a smooth, quiet ride.
The six-minute voyage across the tranquil
waters of Lake Coeur d'Alene provides not only a first class arrival
for tee time, but also a scenic tour of the glacier-carved lake basin.
It's from here the Guest first catches sight of The Resort's signature
hole, a man-made island which can only be reached with a Par-3 drive
across open water.
At the Coeur d'Alene, every golfing group is
pampered by a forecaddie who accompanies them to the over-the-water
driving range, guides the Guests through their golf experience, and
gives accurate distance to the flagstick using laser guns. The caddies
are an invaluable part of playing The Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course.
"Here, a caddie is not just a caddie, but a
personal concierge for the day," says Luke Stavros, director of golf
for The Coeur d'Alene.
The course itself, at 6,804 yards from the
Gold Tees, has several aspects that make it truly unique: The lovely
lake setting, recently upgraded design and the undisturbed nature of
play. The upgrade, unveiled in 2003, was designed to make what has
always been a very playable and aesthetic course more challenging to
top golfers.
Adding to the award-winning design of golf
architect Scott Miller, The Resort has installed 21 more white sand
bunkers and planted 250 new trees. Changes to the 5th hole opened up
views of Lake Coeur d'Alene and put natural rock formations into play.
Another personal touch is the lunch service
available on the 9th hole. The caddie sends in an order, which is
prepared and sent out in a picnic basket to the 10th tee.
The goal throughout the experience is
seamless personal attention, from the minute the Guest books a golf
vacation until the time the Resort staff waves goodbye.
"I have never been to a place where, from
top to bottom, they are as friendly and attuned to detail in golf as
this," says John Bodenhamer, executive director of the Pacific
Northwest Golf Association. "They want to be unique in every respect
and they have certainly achieved it."
